Options within the Economics Major

• Required Courses for the Major:

1. ECON 401 and 402

2. ECON 605 and 611

3. DS 420

4. CS 401

5. MATH 420 or 424A

1. Economics Major

2. International and Development Economics*

3. Financial and Managerial Economics*

4. Public Policy Economics*

• Electives for the Options:

1. All Options: At least four economics electives beyond required courses.

2. Economics Major: No restrictions on selection of economics electives.

3. International and Development Economics: At least three electives to be chosen from ECON 518, 630, 645, 668, 669, 692, 707, 745, 746, 747, GEOG 582).

4. Financial and Managerial Economics : At least three electives to be chosen from ECON 626, 635, 645, 698 (Organizational Economics), 711, 735, 736, 746, 798 (Industrial Organization), and ACFI 601.

5. Public Policy Economics : At least three electives to be chosen from ECON 607, 635, 641, 642, 651, 656, 670, 741, 798 (Financial Markets & Monetary Policy).

• Course Substitution:

1. A major wishing to pursue an option in International and Development, Financial and Managerial, or Public Policy Economics may petition the department chair to allow substitution of one appropriate economics course for one of the specified electives within the option; OR

2. A major may petition the department chair to allow the substitution of a independent study, if appropriate, for one of the specified electives within an option.

3. If an economics major elects the Financial and Managerial Economics option, ACFI 601 can count as one of the four electives required for the major.
