Full Time MBA - Wall Street, NYC Residencey

It was a busy two days but the FTMBA Class of 2008 made the most out of their trip to New York City.

Thursday

5:00 AM - Depart from sleepy Durham, NH.

11:00 AM - Arrive at our hotel. Great Location! Brief rest, change and grab a bite to eat.

12:00-4:00 PM - Short walk to Morgan Stanley where we are met by alum Bob Towse '63 Advisory Director, Insurance Joint Ventures who brought in several excellent speakers. The afternoon session ended with Fred Whittemore, son of Laurence Whittemore for whom the School is named. Mr. Whittemore regaled our class with stories of his youth at Morgan Stanley and advised us to always put our families first.

6:00 PM - Alumni Reception at the Union Club. Over thirty Whittemore School alums attended the reception, networked with students and provided helpful hints about living and working in New York.

 

Friday
7:30 AM - Took the Red Line down to the Financial District.
8:00-12:30 PM - Arrived at Citigroup, where we were hosted by Terry Tracy '80 Managing Director and Product Manager of Municipal Bonds. At our morning session we learned about muni cash sales, derivatives and equity sales. Our visit included a tour of their trading floor.
12:30 PM - After lunch we left CitiGroup and walked by Ground Zero on our way to the New York Mercantile.
1:00-3:00 PM - Our host at the Mercantile, John Lekman took us on a tour of the museum and explained how the trading floor works. We ended our visit being mesmerized by the traders working on the floor.
3:00-8:00 PM - Free Time!
8:00 PM - Thanks to the generosity of Fred Whittemore, we were able to see the Broadway production of Young Frankstein.
Saturday
Free time until the Coach picked us up at 2:00 PM for the drive back to New Hampshire.
