Congratulations to the 2008 Winners! 

All 1st Place winners will advance to the May 14th Holloway Prize Challenge Round in Durham.  All awards and prizes will be presented on May 14th.

1st Place:  Prize - $3000 each

  • Energy Portfolio Systems (EPS)
  • Novel Superabsorbent from Renewable Resource
  • Glycura

2nd Place:  Prize - $1500 each

  • Chalk Talk
  • Argos
  • Optical Measurement

3rd Place:  Prize - $1000 each

  • OxyBottle
  • FitVending Company, LLC
  • Eco Oasis (aka Eco-Friendly Sleep Systems)

Guidelines: 

Students will present their work to a Panel of Judges comprised of representatives from business and industry.

  • Teams will be divided into three challenge groups.
  • All team members must be in their assigned rooms during all presentations.
  • Teams will be selected randomly to present to the judges.  If all team members are not present, the team will forfeit.
  • Each team will have 10 minutes to present.
  • Each team will have 15 minutes to respond to questions from the judges.
  • Each team will meet with one judge at lunch to ask questions and get additional feedback.
  • Presentations are scored.
  • A first, second and third place team will be selected from each challenge group.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place - $3,000 (number awarded 3)
  • 2nd Place - $1,500 (number awarded 3)
  • 3rd Place - $1,000 (number awarded 3)
