Raymond Goodman is Professor and Chair of the Department of Hospitality Management and holds the Ph.D. and Master's Degree from Cornell University. He has taught at Centre International de Glion in Montreux, Switzerland, the Institut de Management Hotelier International at l'Ecole Superieuer des Sciences Economique et Commerciales in Paris, France, and at the School of Catering Studies in Budapest, Hungary. He has been on the faculty at Cornell University's Hotel School and the Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, University of Houston.
His publications include Retirement Facilities Planning, Design, and Marketing, The Management of Service for the Restaurant Manage, 2nd Edition, and The Essentials of Tableside Cookery. Dr. Goodman created the Lodging Executives Sentiment Index (LESI) with colleagues and writes a monthly article for Lodging Hospitality Magazine. He has authored several articles for the hospitality industry trade press as well as in academic publications such as the Cornell Quarterly, the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education, and the Journal Hospitality and Tourism Research.
Dr. Goodman has provided a range of consulting services to include litigation support/expert witness analysis and testimony as well as designed questionnaires and analyzed survey and demographic data for food service institutions and several chain and independent hotels and restaurants. For the last nine years, he has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of River Woods at Exeter, New Hampshire, a fully-accredited Lifecare Community offering 300 independent living apartments/cottages and a continuum of supported residential, assisted living, and skilled nursing care in two residential health care centers with 110 beds.
