Student Responsibilities & Class Structure
Student Responsibilities
Do your homework: All students are expected to keep up to speed on any major economic developments. Analysts should keep a close eye on the holdings in their sector and are required to update the group each week with their revised outlook.
Attendance: The success of our organization depends solely on our group members. We have a unique opportunity of managing this portfolio so it is important that each member attend all classes. Members are also expected to attend occasional events held outside of normal class time.
Reports & Presentations: The company overview handout and powerpoint presentation must be sent to the group by 12 p.m. monday afternoon. Otherwise a vote will not take place and students grades will be penalized. Because we only meet once a week, time management is extremely important.
Typical Class Structure:
12:40 - 12:50pm:
President will address group and hand out agenda. Any news or upcoming events will be discussed. Vice president will discuss any administrative items.
12:50 - 1:00pm:
Portfolio Manager will give a brief market update. A quick synopsis of any significant movements or development within our fund. Economic outlook discussed.
1:00 - 1:30pm:
Presentation 1. Please aim for about ten minutes (15 max). Time for discussion is very important.
1:30 - 2:00pm:
Presentation 2. Please aim for about ten minutes (15 max). Time for discussion is very important.
Presentations and Reports
Each week will feature two presentations from two sectors. Analysts are allotted 30 minutes and should focus on what they feel is most relevant for presenting and not merely restate the written report. If your sector is presenting, please have everything set up before the beginning of class to avoid lag time. Business attire is expected.
